TROPICA STORE and STUDIO
is an art and design studio plus gift shop, founded in 2019 by multidisciplinary creative Nicolette Worth and her sister Becky. It serves as a space for creation and sharing our favourite finds, including books, art, and prints. The store emphasises ethical and sustainable products, while the studio side specialises in collaborating with socially conscious brands and individuals.
The studio focuses on unlocking creative potential and nurturing growth with a suite of personalised art, design, support, and educational services. These offerings are designed to empower socially conscious individuals, businesses, and those with disabilities, enabling them to express themselves, master new skills, and thrive in both digital and artistic realms.

Tropica Store & Studio is nestled in Gordonvale, Queensland, Australia, where we share our MAGICAL shop space with Meadow & Fern Flowers, a sustainable florist. Located at the back of the shop, the studio boasts large windows that flood the space with natural light, creating a bright and inspiring environment for creativity.

MEET the artist
Describing someone and their journey in just a few paragraphs is no easy task. There are many facets of my life that have shaped who I am today, but I'll share a few key moments so you can understand who I am and why you might want to collaborate with me. For all the extra side quests 🧙♂️ in my life (and there are many!), check out this blog post for a deep dive into my story.
I was born in Sydney, Australia (hence my art name "Sydney the Artist" 😎). I moved to Cairns/Gimuy, Queensland due to ongoing mental health challenges. I was fortunate enough to enrol in TAFE (having dropped out of school at 16, this was a big deal for me) where I began my education in visual arts. After earning my diploma, I transitioned to university—something I never imagined possible for myself, especially as someone who's super dyslexic! I completed my Bachelor of Creative Industries. Yes, I did that thing! University helped me find a balance between my mental health and work/life, which prompted me to move to Melbourne to complete my diploma in Graphic Design (yep, I got addicted to learning 🤓).
MEET the artist
One thing you should know about me—I LOVE music ❤️. It's been a significant force in helping me through some dark times, supported by amazing family and friends, and some seriously good psychiatrists. Because of this, and in particular my love for Hip-Hop, I spent six months studying Hip-Hop, African American history, and design at UNCG in North Carolina.
After living overseas, I knew I had to follow my gut (side note your gut is like your own personal psychic 🔮 trust it) which was telling me to dream BIG... Big Apple big. And I did! I moved to New York City where I worked as an artist and designer for three years. This is where I built my art-infused clothing line, gained invaluable skills and experiences, and met many amazing people who welcomed me into their culture and shared so much with me. It wasn't without its challenges and moments of wanting to give up, but it was all worth it.
Upon returning to Australia, I launched Tropica Store & Studio 🌴, where I embraced my other passions like social justice, mental health awareness, education & disability advocacy. Since coming home, I've started teaching visual arts at TAFE, earned my TAE, and obtained a diploma in art therapy 🎨.
